This is part one of a comprehensive two-volume reference that shows all the camouflage uniforms of the Waffen-SS. Using predominately modern color photographs, Volume 1 covers SS camouflage helmet covers and smocks. Each example is displayed on a full mannequin with numerous photos showing how the clothing appeared from various angles. In addition, detail images are used to clearly expose key features of the uniforms and equipment. The text explains the important details about the creation, manufacturing, and wear of each item. Period photos establish the wear of each item presented in the book.

Back

From the age of nine, Lorenzo Silvestri was interested in classical history, especially ancient Rome. Living in northern Italy near the sites of both WWI and WWII battlefields, he spent his free time exploring the trenches in the hills near his garden, looking for military artifacts to collect. Lorenzo’s greatest desire was to lead a life in the military and, not surprisingly, when he came of age, he joined the Italian Army. He spent twenty years in the Italian paratroops with numerous peacekeeping missions abroad. Lorenzo is also a passionate skydiver with 8,400 jumps done during his sports career, with many competition jumps and further parachute training around the world. His favorite hobby is still the collection of military artifacts from World War II, with a focus on German SS and Italian militaria. Lorenzo is married and resides with his beautiful wife Martina in Trieste in northeastern Italy.
