The author earned his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees at the State University of New York in Potsdam. He is a public school teacher of earth science and geology and during the summer months a professional miner of mineral specimens. He also runs an active mineral specimen business focusing on the minerals of New York State, Canada, and China. He has field collected minerals for forty-five years and Herkimer diamonds for the past thirty-five. His publishing background includes numerous lay and professional articles in the field of specimen mineralogy. This is his second book.
