(Atglen, PA) is a family-owned publisher with over 5,700 titles in print and a broad catalog of books, including non-fiction books on art, decorative arts, architecture, design, antiques, military history, maritime, photography, fashion, house and garden, food, history, crafts, woodworking, regional, and more. Located on the Schiffer Book Farm near the Chester/Lancaster county line, we are two miles from the Parkesburg station on Amtrak's Keystone Line.

Warehouse Team Member

Roles and Responsibilities

    • Process orders
      • Pull
      • Rushes
      • Double Check
      • Pack
      • Get Case Lots
      • Ship
    • Assist with returns (scanning  in, putting back in to inventory)
    • Check and respond to emails for truck orders from Barnes and Noble, Baker and Taylor, Amazon, Gazelle, Thomas Allen and Gazelle
    • Pulling, packing, and shipping book posts
    • Pulling, packing and shipping truck orders
    • Re-jacket returned books with new dust jackets
    • Receiving UPS/FedEx  shipments daily
    • Restock skids in outside warehouse
    • Replace low skids
    • Put away reverse picks (re-dust jacketed books or returned books)
    • Restock boxes for packing
    • Consolidate skids
    • Reflow old stock when making room for new inventory
    • Keep entire warehouse clean and organized
    • Help other departments with special projects when needed
    • Assist with show materials
      • Pull all materials
      • Load van or car
      • Unpack when show is over

Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • High School Diploma required
  • Previous warehouse experience required

Preferred Skills

  • Teamwork and good communication skills a must
  • Ability to lift at least 50 lbs.
  • Ability to climb
  • Lift certification preferred

         

Graphic Designer

The focus of this in-house position is to execute creative design solutions that both strengthen brand equity and match the intended market. Producing both high quality and creative work based on established standards, guidelines, and procedures is crucial. Precise, consistent work output is essential, and requires patience and a willingness to handle and complete multiple tasks. The job environment is stable, and is based on a team mentality and well-defined processes. Job knowledge and competency is built through a structured workflow and positive, supportive coaching from management and peers. Communication with others is based on knowledge of repetitive job routines and procedures gained from sufficient on-the-job experience. The ability to work effectively across departments to execute proper creative direction is critical while reporting to the Creative Director. Schiffer Publishing promotes a creative work environment where ideas can be shared so that there is opportunity for personal and creative growth. This position is designed to develop a valued creative expert who, recognized and supported by management, can deliver quality work on a consistent basis while staying abreast of technological advances and trends in graphic design. 

Roles and Responsibilities

    • Responsible for executing creative design solutions that strengthen brand equity and streamline the graphic design process for each assignment.
    • Development of graphics & layouts for assigned projects.
    • Staying abreast of technological advances in the field of graphic design and the latest design trends that will contribute to quality and efficiency.
    • A background in marketing, advertising, company branding preferred.
    • Ability to work effectively across inter-department project areas including:  Authors, Editorial, Sales and Marketing in order to execute the proper creative direction.
    • Responsible for preparing files for press and a working knowledge of offset printing.

Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree with focus on Graphic or Communication Design
  • 3-5 years industry experience

Preferred Skills

  • Proficient in the Adobe Creative Suite including InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Bridge, and CameraRaw.

  • A strong working knowledge of the prepress process.
  • Ability to articulate ideas clearly & creatively
  • Ability to follow directions and process artistic and technical feedback resulting in creative design solutions.
  • Knowledge of print Media, Web design a plus.
  • eBook publication experience is desired
  • Develops and adheres to graphic standards and branding initiatives.
  • Knowledgeable in Adobe Digital Editions, Calibre, and Sigil.
  • Studio photography experience strongly desired
  • • Experience in Web Development and maintenance a plus

                        

     

    Customer Care Representative

     

    The role of Customer Care Representative at Schiffer Publishing is an integral part of the business efficiencies that occur daily. The main focus of this job is to provide each caller, whether a customer, vendor, or author, the best experience possible. The person in this role must be patient, and conscious of producing high quality, detailed work based on established procedures and guidelines. Because this role requires processing orders, payments, and email requests, not to mention staying on top of inventory, consistent, error-free work output is essential. Although this person must have a strong ability to multi-task, they must also learn to complete a single assignment and prioritize correctly in order to ensure accuracy. Job knowledge and competency are built through structured step-by-step training and positive, supportive coaching from management and peers. Communication with others is based on knowledge of repetitive job routines, and makes this person a “go-to” for team members who may have particular questions about a book. Because of the repetitive nature of tasks, this person will quickly become an expert, technical in nature, who’s role is critical to the team’s and business’ success. 

    Roles and Responsibilities

  • The ability to ensure a positive experience with our customers (and Authors) by working to give each caller or visitor the highest quality of service. This includes placing orders, answering product and service questions and solving problems, when they occur, in a courteous and professional manner.
  • Answer phones professionally and with respect
  • Forward, answer, or process emails received to main email address, website and voicemail
  • Manage inbound communications
  • Check voicemail (Rotate weeks within the department)
  • Process orders including those faxed, emailed, mailed, internal, and EDI
  • EDI – Pull orders, confirm, edit and update in Vendor Central for Amazon
  • Process credit card orders daily and transmit credit card payments
  • Print, sort, and deliver orders to the Warehouse
  • Process returns
  • Credit Application – process/check/approve
  • Maintain up-to-date records and contact information for customers and authors
  • Schedule containers delivery with freight forwarder
  • Create Records for new books and manage all books in inventory management system
  • Release Backorders
  • Communicate new releases to each external rep, and in-house team member
  • Prepare spreadsheets for external reps and in-house team to alert them of new titles arriving
  • Barnes and Noble Spreadsheets
  • Update product metadata management to customers
  • Upload images to Amazon, Schiffer, Barnes and Noble and Edelweiss
  • Keep warehouse inventory up to date/accurate
  • Month-End processing of orders and inventory
  • Transfer books’ design files to Master Archive
  • Manage product data
  • Catalog Requests and Weekly catalog mailing
  • Complete any projects given to them by the Customer Care Manager

    Qualifications and Education Requirements

    • High School Diploma
    • Previous experience in Customer Service preferred

    • Microsoft Office application experience a plus
    • Detail oriented; able to work fast paced with minimal mistakes

                                     Regional Accounts Manager

      Roles and Responsibilities

      • Working toward quarterly and annual sales targets by channel, account, region
      • Maintaining existing customers(“house accounts”) by presenting both frontlist and backlist titles as appropriate, conducting account analysis as required, and providing explanations of the current status quo of top 50 house accounts on a quarterly basis
      • Developing new customers in the assigned region, with a goal of expanding the territory dollar volume by a minimum of 5% annually
      • Providing regular feedback on the state of the market, promotions, and outreach as well as the geographic region to the Director and key personnel as required
      • Responding to inquiries from both internal and external contacts within 48 hours
      • Representing the company at trade shows and other events
      • Maintaining full and complete information on accounts and leads in the designated CRM program, including contact information and correspondence
      • Additional duties and projects as assigned

      Qualifications and Education Requirements

      • College degree or equivalent and/or sales experience

      Preferred Skills

      • Willing to learn about a wide variety of subject areas
      • Strong proficiency in general computer skills and standard CRM programs
      • Proven ability to build and maintain supportive and constructive relationships within and outside of the organization
      • Must be extremely organized an detail-oriented, and have superior verbal and written communication skills
