Job Description:
Schiffer Publishing, Ltd., seeks a creative troubleshooter for a full-time production designer position. Attention to detail, expert knowledge of print production and prepress processes, solid knowledge of online proofing systems, and excellent communication skills are a must. Expert command and knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite is essential, as are strong skills in image processing and color correction. Previous experience in book publishing, or similar deadline-driven production environment, and studio photography is strongly desired.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform quality assurance on all projects, including preflighting, packaging, and creating press-ready PDF files for print partners according to product specifications
  • Identify and troubleshoot problems with layout and production of books, kits, stationery, and other project formats with both internal team members and vendors
  • Retouch images, create clipping paths, and color-balance images for production
  • Layout and production of marketing materials and all sales catalogs for print production and digital delivery
  • Reflow and resize projects for new production formats
  • Prepare reader copies, 3-D covers, inside images, and press images for digital marketing
  • Archive projects for future reprints and new editions
  • Follow production schedule to ensure tasks are completed on time

Job Description:
Schiffer Publishing, Ltd., is looking for energetic, self-motivated, and internally driven Regional Account Managers to sell Schiffer publications to independent bookstores, specialty nonbook retail stores, gift shops, museum shops, regional chain stores, and other accounts within a defined territory of the US. The Regional Account Manager is responsible for managing a regional book of business by traveling to and developing a network of customers across the complete range of interest areas and customer types of all our imprints and growing the sales within their assigned territory by pitching new releases, as well as backlist titles, recommending store promotions and managing co-op, opening new accounts, and managing existing accounts. Candidate must be comfortable with old-fashioned hand selling and personal presentations as well as video sales conferencing, digital presentations, metadata distributions, and connecting directly with the customers in a meaningful and safe way to develop business and relationships. The compensation for this position includes base salary plus commission as well as a goal-based bonus.

Responsibilities:

  • Meet and exceed quarterly and annual sales targets by imprint within the assigned region
  • Maintain existing customers by presenting both frontlist and backlist titles in person (virtually, or on location where possible) and conducting account analysis as required
  • Develop meaningful relationships with the buyers and purchasing contacts within the assigned territory
  • Support the retailers who sell all subjects covered by the range of the Schiffer family of imprints
  • Expand the sales volume in the assigned territory by targeting and developing new customers
  • Provide regular candid feedback on title presentations, current and developing trends within the territory, and SWOT analysis of the territory
  • Collaborate with the in-office sales and customer service teams to ensure a good customer experience
  • Provide monthly reports on the state of the business within the assigned territory
  • Respond to inquiries from both internal and external contacts
  • Represent the company at regional trade shows and other events as the world reopens
  • Additional duties and special projects as assigned

Preferred Skills

  • Familiarity with the illustrated-book market
  • Must be extremely organized and detail oriented and have superior verbal and written communication skills
  • Must be a self-starter with the ability to work with a minimum of day-to-day supervision
  • Must be willing and able to travel and perform physical aspects of job

Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • College degree or equivalent and/or sales experience
  • 2–3 years publishing experience
  • Proficient in Edelweiss, Google Docs, Microsoft Office
