“In Every Season: Memories of Martha’s Vineyard”
Author Phyllis Méras gives an intimate look of Martha's Vineyard through personal stories and visionary images. Accompanying her essays is artwork by Thomas H. Cocroft and Robert E. Schwartz.
Atglen P.A. — The 100-square-mile resort island of Martha’s Vineyard, just off Cape Cod has been a prized vacation retreat since the Civil War. In more recent times, it has been the site of the Summer White House for Presidents Clinton and Obama. Reminisce with author Phyllis Méras, a fourth-generation summer Vineyarder that now lives permanently on the island, of walks in the island’s woods and meadows and on its beaches, observing nature through the seasons. Memories of her childhood summers on Martha’s Vineyard are complimented by 67 pen and ink drawings by Thomas H. Cocroft and Robert E Schwartz. Immerse yourself in the author’s love of the outdoors and accompany her on her island walks in this charming look at the natural beauty of Martha’s Vineyard.
Phyllis Méras is a lifetime Martha’s Vineyard resident and a former managing editor of the Vineyard Gazette. She is the author of three previous books about Martha’s Vineyard. The late Thomas Cocroft was a self taught artist who moved to Martha’s Vineyard with his wife, Phyllis Méras. He exhibited his art in Providence, Boston, and the Southwest and on the Vineyard. Robert Schwartz is a registered architect and architectural renderer as well as a landscape painter. He has exhibited at the New York Watercolor Society as well as on the Vineyard.
