“Mind & Hand: Contemporary Studio Furniture”

72 contemporary U.S. professionals and 13 student woodworkers come together  to create practical and decorative furniture created from diverse natural and man made materials.

Atglen P.A. — The beautiful contemporary furniture designed and made by 72 US woodworkers who are members of The Furniture Society and 13 juried students are cataloged in over 175 color photos.  Seating, case furniture, and accessories demonstrate the healthy state of handmade furniture in which creativity abounds in thoughtful designs.  Exotic and classic woods and other materials are used for original designs, as created by these women and men woodworkers.  Inspirations for interior designers showcase useful and artistic forms.  This book displays the relationship between mind and hand and encourages new talent to merge diverse elements into their designs.

The Furniture Society is a nonprofit, educational organization founded in 1996 to advance the art of furniture making by inspiring creativity, promoting excellence and fostering an understanding of this art in its place in society.  The Furniture Society’s headquarters is located in Asheville, North Carolina.
