                Atglen P.A. — Demonstrating techniques such as double weave, inlay, and pattern weave, original ideas for tapestries and engaging text are illustrated by 98 beautiful color photos.  This captivating collection also details stories of the competitive/collaborative nature of commisions integral to the creation of many tapestries.  The story begins with the artist’s work from Cranbrook Academy of Art and continues with her work in Portland, Oregon, when it was embraced by art consultants, galleries, and collectors.    The captivating  journey chronicles one artist’s long career through gorgeous tapestries and their histroies.  Each tapestry displayed presents a influential idea of the artist and, as she states “… a finished tapestry illuminates daily existence and is a part of the on-going chronicle of how design ideas are conceived and executed.”

                Judith Poxson Fawkes is a working tapestry weaver in Portland, Oregon and a graduate of Cranbrook Academy of Art. She has been creating tapestries for over 47 years. Judith has completed 50 commissions that hang in diverse locations and 69 tapestries in public collections.
